Favorite Paper

     My favorite paper of the year is the advertisement analysis. The ad I chose is of a topic I love and enjoy writing about. The ad was of Mass effect 3. As an avid gamer I was easily able to compare it to other video game ads. I am huge fan of the mass effect series so I was really excited to write about it in any form.
     I did get carried away when writing the introduction paragraph. I had one choice in advertisements of Mass effect 3. This made my choice extremely easy.

My argument

     Occasionally the ESRB rating system is flawed in what a game gets. T rating and M ratings have very similar criteria. Certain games that should receive an AO rating get an M due to sloppy rating. 

    My strongest evidence is that the criteria for an M rating is similar to a T rating. Because M rating requires an adult present to buy it and a T rating dosen't, there is a bigger consequence for an improper rating. These two ratings should separate more to avoid a parent unintentionally buying a game that they don't seem fit for their child.

    My weakest evidence is the difference between an M rating and AO. The age requirement between the two is only 1 year, but the criteria for each is much more vast than a T and M. This isn't also as much of a parental concern than the previous argument. It is there just to give better examples of how there have been mistakes by the ESRB.

Arguments analyzed

I analyzed the argument "should the Obama generation drop out?" The tone of the argument feels informal, but doesn't seem to work with the subject he is arguing for. The author tries to target a broad audience from those in college to those already with a bachelors. This makes it lose the personal feel when his argument is based on being personal problems. When the author uses a percentage to bolster his argument he fails due to the percentage range being to big. This made him lose credibility and hampered any future evidence he brings up.

Peer reviewing Peer reviews

I find peer review effective in that I can talk to the person reviewing my paper during the review, and get instant feedback. This helps me get a quick understanding of my mistakes. I think peer review also has flaws since we all are on a relative writing skill level. This could be fixed if the teacher reviewed a second rough daft after the peer review. Two rough drafts will probably help instead of having us do rewrites. It is basically the same thing but the grade isn't given out till the final.
The only the strength I have as a peer reviewer is that I fully answer the questions on the peer review sheet. My weakness as a peer reviewer is that I don't really look for grammatical mistakes. Unless they are blatantly apparent I will not point it out.
For an ideal peer review process. I think a initial peer review on the rough draft should start it. Then a second rough draft critiqued by the professor. Then the final paper is due. 

Self errors

One of the most common errors in my writing I find is that I forget pronouns or adjectives. I say the sentence in my head and procede to write it down, but my fingers jump some words forward. This is only a problem when I don't check the sentence what I have just written. I do forget to check work before proceeding, so it is a problem.
The next problem is result of the same problem. I lack focus in my writing so my ideas are all over the place. This happens to me while talking with friends over any form of text chat. My friends like to say that it is an evolving conversation. My teachers say I am just not focused.
Another problem I have noticed is that I stray of topic, or I just do something completely opposite of what is asked. I guess it has to do with my lack of focus. Or its the teachers fault for giving such boring assignments, but even then I'd lose focus and diverge from the path. I can see my problems reoccur every writing assignment, yet I can't seem t fix it.

The Obama Generation

Everyone has the capability to achieve a bachelors through a four year college. There are those with finical complicaties where college isn't an option. Outside that there is no viable reason to explain why you wouldn't go to college for a degree in engineering or sciences. Tests of certification are acceptable, but they don't show much else. They only how individual intelligence not work ethic. A gpa measured over 4 years can show consistant effort and long term goals set by the individual.
I'm going into a computer field which can be entered both through a 4 year college and/or certifications. This is options I have been presented with, but while interning I have found that a bachelors degree will help more than a certification.

Progression

I don't see any form of progression in my writing since my first blog post. The topics have slightly changed, so a comparison between writing would not be balanced. I don't know how to see advancement in writing so I won't be able to tell if I improved.
Again I don't know if this class has helped since there has only been one graded paper and these blogs. I think this blog post came way to early into the semester.
I still think this is way to early to fully analyze if this class needs any improvement. I like the peer review of my rough drafts. I think it is the most helpful part of the writing process.
The only reason I see any difference between my writing is that the topic of which I write. I would like to think my writing has improved. I try to make less gramar mistakes in my writing, but I honestly can't tell.
I know this is supposed to be a critical thinking assignment, but I find it difficult to see anything beyond the 1 paper and 4 blogs that have been graded.
