Assignment 3

1. Structure

The structure is the most important aspect of any paper. The structure organizes events, importance, and makes the story/argument flow. What you usually see in a mediocre  paper is a big lack of structure. The main points are there, but they aren't organized properly making each point lacking. A great paper sets up everything in the right order. Making you see a flow of events, and each point makes more sense.

2. Grammar

Bad grammar can be distracting to the reader. Misspelled words aren't that big of a problem between an excellent and mediocre paper. Its the words used to describe the scene and enhance your topic. Using the right words can shorten a paper in the right way. If your descriptions are too long; then your reader looses focus on what is trying to be conveyed.   

3. Captivating

Captivating stories make you want to read them instead of trudging through them. An excellent paper will tell a story that makes you want turn the page over and over again. Mediocre stories convey the feeling that the author did not enjoy writing this and so will you. 

I find structure to be the hardest part for me when I'm writing. Mind wanders about the topic I'm writing about, and in turn my writing dose too.

Essay 1 preview

     My writing has never a strong point for me. I am more left brained than right making me excel at all other subjects other than creative writing. I understand the need for writing in our advancing society so I press on through my slight disadvantage. I will never strive for a career as a writer, but I won't let this stagger any of my writing progresses. This makes writing a more personal challenge for me than most.
     At an early age I found writing easy. I would always ace my essays between the grades of 6 and 8. I knew who the audience and subject dictated that I should write to get an "A". The essays were always persuasive or summaries of books. This made writing structured and easy to write, but never promoted a creative writing passion.
     Once I hit high school I had lost what little desire I had to write anything. I pushed aside any writing assignment, and this made my poor writing skills decrease over time. This continued until I decided to apply for college. This was when I realized how far my writing had fallen. I had to take a developmental writing course in my first semester. By the end of the semester I had acquired some confidence in my writing again.
